Skiing in La Tania

La Tania is a great location for your skiing or snowboarding holiday: the la Tania telecabine takes you from the village to a 4-seater chairlift, then you have the choice of skiing either the Meribel or Courchevel valleys.

The Trois Vallees needs little introduction as one of the worlds’ greatest ski areas. The full ski pass covers the resorts of Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens: there are 198 lifts, 600km of pistes and 1499 snow cannons - you can be sure of quality skiing throughout the season. In the Courchevel Valley there is a huge selection of skiing to suit every level of skier.

At the end of a day on the slopes you can return to la Tania using a green piste "Plan Fontaine"; the blue "Les Folyeres" which takes you down through the trees or ski the fast red "Moretta Blanche".

There are plenty of snow cannons ensuring good snow back to la Tania throughout the season.
Les Trois Vallees fact file:

Ski range 1300m to 3250m
Marked pistes: 600km
Ski lifts: 198
Snow parks: Courchevel 3; Meribel 1; Val Thorens 1
Half-pipe:
Beginners: there is a free drag lift on la Tania’s nursery slopes, allowing beginners to learn basic techniques before graduating to the blue runs above the resort. The green Plan Fontaine piste starts at the top of the telecabine at 1,900m; it winds through the trees and back to la Tania.
Intermediates: There is a huge choice of blue and red ski runs in the Courchevel valley, as well as the chance to explore further afield: into Meribel and beyond to St Martin de Belleville and Val Thorens. The best piste preparation is generally above Courchevel 1850: some of the runs can be very flattering.
If you are not taking lessons then it may be best to stay with a tour operator offering ski hosting, try Ski Beat or Snow Hounds.
Advanced on-piste: Within the Courchevel valley there is an excellent selection of red and black runs. Just skiing all the black runs of Courchevel in one day will represent a challenge. Once you add in Meribel and Val Thorens the combined Trois Vallees offers a massive amount of skiing even for the best skiers and snowboarders.

Off piste: A guide is always recommended. One of the best sites for descriibing the off piste skiing and snowboarding of Les Trois Vallees would be www.pistehors.com.
Weather forecasts and snow conditions can be found via the ski holiday offers screen.
Local ski lift passes are available for each valley of the Trois Vallees at a reduced rate. 2008/09 prices for 6 days skiing across the whole area are €225 for adult skiers and €169 for children (aged 5-12 inclusive); kids aged 4 and under ski free.
