Your skiing holiday in La Tania
| La Tania, France is in one of the biggest ski and snowboarding areas in the world: the Trios Vallees. The Trois Vallees or Three Valleys is made up of the Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens valleys - most of the ski area is due to open on 13 December. Most ski holiday companies such as Ski Beat Chalet Holidays open on 13 December. Courchevel la Tania makes a great destination for a family ski holiday or for a mixed ability group skiing holiday. Over the last few years several bars have opened providing competition for each other. A couple of them have live bands so the scene in the village centre is getting livelier. La Tania is set in the forest between Courchevel and Meribel and is one of the most convenient ski villages in Les Trois Vallees. There is a telecabine out of the village, at the top of that there is a four-seater chairlift that brings you to the top of a ridge: turn left to ski down to Courchevel 1850 or right to ski to Meribel. When skiing or snowboarding back to la Tania in the afternoon there is a choice of pistes through the trees, including a red, blue and green run back to resort. There are plenty of snow-making machines on the blue run and the whole section of the mountain is north-facing, meaning it holds the snow well. Most of the ski chalets are set amongst the trees just above the village. There is a good range of chalets from the budget self-catered chalets such as the Chalet la Tania. At the top end of the market are luxury ski chalets such as Chalet Elliott East with heated ski room and its own hot tub. Ski Beat offers excellent value middle of the range ski chalets in la Tania: all rooms are en-suite, food is very good but not the trimmings and prices of the luxury ski chalet market. Other than the chalets there is a good selection of self-catering apartments as well as the Hotel Montana, available through the specialist ski travel agent Snow Hounds.
